Casting A Silicone Head Bust With A Flexible Foam Core

Join this channel to access to legacy video content:    / @brickintheyard   In this video I cast a silicone bust with a flexible foam core from a Hydrocal mold. This Hydrocal mold is almost 10 years old now. You can see that tutorial here:    • Moldmaking Tutorial: 2 Piece Hydrocal Plas...   This mold was sealed with Mold Soap. In some cases, additional release may be necessary. In that case I recommend a light spray of Zip 301. For the skin I used TC-5130F platinum silicone. I thickened the TC-5130F with SC-5001 thickening agent to create a brushable paste. I brushed this skin into the sealed mold (sealed with Mold Soap) in two layers. Once the silicone was cured I filled the interior with fairly dense, TC-284 flexible foam. TC-284 is a variable density flexible foam. This means that it can be mixed to different densities depending on how much part A is add to part B. For this head I mixed the foam to the 8lb density: 1 part A to 2 parts B. for this head I used 400 grams part A + 800 grams part B.
