It was built in 1995 for about 100,000 yuan and has two floors with a total area of around 180 square meters. It is spacious, comfortable, and completely mortgage-free. I show you the bedrooms, kitchen, old furniture, former grain-storage rooms, and the spaces where my parents care for several rescued dogs and pigeons. I also explain how rural and city house prices in China have changed over the past three decades. This simple house holds many family memories. I grew up in a poor family with four children, carried water from a well before I was 10, and began helping in the fields in second grade.
