zp12 turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a 12-bit sampling drum machine in the spirit of the 80s: 26 kHz, pitched with nothing smoothed, your own samples dropped in from the browser. Free firmware, installed from Chrome or Edge in a minute. Install, editor, backup, cheat sheet: https://zp12.designburgapps.com Part of the M-VAVE FM-1 firmware wars: after the stock firmware, Felucca, SLOOP, Baud Girl's FM-1+VA and sloopDX (the DX7), zp12 makes the FM-1 a 12-bit sampling drum machine. It installs over and back with the others' installers. Everything you see and hear in this video comes from the firmware's own code: the screens are rendered by it, the sounds come out of its engine, the knobs and keys are a script of what a hand would do. What zp12 is • 32 pads at 26.04 kHz (SP-1200 rate) or 27.5 kHz (SP-12 rate), 12-bit linear • pitch by the playback rate, no interpolation: tuned up it skips samples, down it repeats them • stored fast, played slow: 45 → 33 per sound, own samples at ×2 or ×2.7 (an octave down on the pad) • 8 channels: 1–2 with a resonant 4-pole low-pass that follows the decay, 3–6 fixed, 7–8 raw • 16 loops on the black keys, songs, real-time recording with count-in and AUTO CORRECT, step editing, swing • TUNE / DECAY / CUT recorded per hit while you turn them • a DJ filter on the whole mix, chorus, delay in tempo, reverb, drive per pad • your own samples: drop a WAV, AIFF, MP3 or FLAC in the browser, trim it, hear it as the FM-1 plays it, put it on a pad • backup and restore in the browser; the sloopDX DX7 banks can stay or make room for samples Chapters 0:00 The classic, and the finished groove 0:12 Your own samples: the web editor 0:35 Recording the beat live 0:49 Piano at 33, a bass over the keys, TUNE recorded per hit 1:06 The own sample in the loop 1:12 Jam: the DJ filter and the flute 1:23 Loop 2: erase while it plays, double time 1:37 Install and links Links Install (Chrome / Edge, over USB): https://zp12.designburgapps.com/install Sample editor: https://zp12.designburgapps.com/editor Backup: https://zp12.designburgapps.com/backup Cheat sheet: https://zp12.designburgapps.com/#chea...
