Tribespeople! We're back in the studio, and we aren't pulling any punches.
In this episode, Ebrima and MamGoree (special guest) put up a mirror to our own community. As two Gambian Millennials living in the United States, we love our people too much to watch us stay stagnant. It’s time to trade the comfort of "The Smiling Coast" for radical self-improvement and collective accountability. We are breaking down the 5 thesis statements from "The Gambian Crisis" that nobody else is brave enough to say out loud. From our work ethic and broken investment strategies to the cultural guilt trips and our identity crisis, we are unpacking it all.
Inside this episode:
Thesis 1: The Ambition Gap. Why Gambian men are arguably the laziest in the West African sub-region, chasing basic comfort over true scale, ownership, and positions of corporate influence.
Thesis 2: The Vanity Project. The harsh reality of why building a massive house back home in Gambia is a vanity project funded at the expense of your children's actual financial future.
Thesis 3: The Boundary Crisis. How to stop feeling guilty for setting boundaries with friends and family who view you as a human ATM, and how to survive the "you've changed" narrative.
Thesis 4: The Insecurity Trap. Unpacking why some diaspora men struggle with insecurity and ego when the women in our community are winning, leading, and building wealth.
The Hot Take: The Senegambian Myth. Why it's time to stop calling yourself "Senegambian" and realize it has become a one-way street of cultural and economic exploitation.
This isn't an attack—it’s a rescue mission for our culture. If these points make you uncomfortable, good. That means we’re hitting the exact nerve that needs to heal for us to collectively build a real talent pipeline in the diaspora.
What do you think? Which thesis statement hit you the hardest? Are we standing on business or did we go too far? Let us know in the comments below.
