A proud man finally finds home. “The Awakening (I’m Home)” is the Spirit of the Lord song from Seven Spirits, a novel by April Newton.
About the song
This is the moment the veil comes off for a Jewish man. Written from Chapter 21 of Seven Spirits, the song follows a man who spent his life chasing trophies, wealth and control, until the Spirit of the Lord (the Spirit of Jesus Christ) meets him face to face. He doesn’t find the cold judge he expected. He finds laughter, mercy, and a Father running to meet him with open arms. He lays down everything he built his pride on, and for the first time in his life, he’s home.
How it reflects Chapter 21
In Seven Spirits, the Seven Spirits of God (Isaiah 11) come together to tear down one man’s pride (Ari Keshet) and save his soul from Hell. Chapter 21 is where the story turns. Everything he trusted has been taken apart, and the Spirit of the Lord, first of the Seven Spirits named in Isaiah 11:2, meets him in the ruins. He doesn’t get condemnation. He gets a seat at the table. The heaviness falls off his chest, the chains of doubt break, and the man who owned everything finally belongs to Someone.
For Jewish believers and Messianic communities
This song was written with you in mind. It opens with the ancient cry “How long?” and the longing for Messiah, and it holds onto a truth Messianic believers know well: the Law and the Feasts were pointing to Him all along.
The imagery comes straight from Scripture’s Hebrew roots:
🕎 The golden lampstand with seven flames. The menorah of the Tabernacle (Exodus 25), and the seven lamps before the throne, “which are the seven Spirits of God” (Revelation 4:5).
🌸 Almond blossoms. The menorah’s cups were shaped like almond blossoms, and Aaron’s rod budded as a sign from God (Numbers 17:8). The almond blossoms signal the awakening of springtime in Israel.
📜 The veil pulled away. “Whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away” (2 Corinthians 3:16).
A klezmer violin runs through the arrangement, a sound from the Jewish tradition carrying a song about recognizing Yeshua as the Promised One.
