Building three huge storage shelves hanging from the ceiling in my buddies garage. He needs more storage for stuff. These shelves are built strong with 3/4" A/C Plywood and Steel Uni-Strut channel. The front edge is hung from the ceiling on 3/8" threaded rod (all-thread), then secured using nuts and washers. The steel channel is spliced together with bolts and spring-washers. The plywood is bolted to the super-strut using carriage bolts. If I ever do this again I will keep my spans down to about six feet. Uni-strut (sometimes called super-strut) can be bought at Home-Depot, Lowes, and any Electrical or HVAC supply house. This is a common product used throughout commercial and Industrial buildings.
