Not an Easy Start of a Great Motorcycle Adventure | Argentina, Chile | Road to Colombia - Episode 1

This is the first episode of my South American motorcycle adventure: Road to Colombia or #spremedellin, from Santiago de Chile to Cartagena, Colombia. In this episode, after I get reunited with my motorcycle in Valparaiso, Chile, I start the first leg of this adventure: from Valparaiso, Chile to the Atacama Desert, more precisely San Pedro de Atacama. However, not on the direct road, but through some of the highest mountain passes in the Andes and in the whole world: Paso de Agua Negra, Paso de San Francisco and Paso de Jama. After leaving Santiago de Chile and passing through the Caracoles and the first cross of the Andes, I get to Mendoza, Argentina. Then, I continue my journey north and after a short stop in San Juan, I spend the night in San Jose de Jachal, very close to the Paso de Agua Negra. I cross the Argentinian border and get to over 4700 meters on the pass and then I continue to La Serena, in Chile. Unfortunately, at almost 4000 meters, with 20 km before the border with Chile, I remain stuck because one connector of my fuel pump brakes. With the motorcycle blocked I find some help and we are both transported to La Serena. After 3 days in La Serena and with the help of some amazing people, I’m again able to continue my journey. The next stop is Copiapo, because there is the last fuel station on a distance of 500 km in the direction of Paso de San Francisco. With low self-confidence because of what happened on Paso Agua Negra, I cross Paso de San Francisco and "Ruta de Los Seismiles”, enter back to Argentina and stay in Tinogasta. My next stop is Cafayate, but not before visiting the Sacred City of the Quilmes. Through some scenic roads: Quebrada de la Conchas and Cuesta del Obispo I finally get to Salta and enjoy this vibrant and full of passion city. With one more night to spend before crossing back to Chile, through Paso de Jama, I discover a hidden gem of my itinerary through Argentina, Purmamarca. Next day, I cross Paso de Jama and at some point my altimeter shows 4831 meters, the highest altitude I’ve been to in my life.
