KENNETH E. HAGIN: SALVATION VS HOLY SPIRIT FILLING — WHY MANY MISS GOD’S POWER
Is being saved the same as being filled with the Holy Spirit? This powerful teaching, inspired by Kenneth E. Hagin, answers one of the most misunderstood questions in the body of Christ—and it does so with unmistakable clarity straight from Scripture.
In John 14:16–17, Jesus draws a clear distinction that many overlook: “He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” That single statement reveals a divine sequence—with you (before) and in you (after). This is not poetic language. It is covenant language. It is God establishing a pattern that separates salvation (new birth) from the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
This message walks you step-by-step through the Bible—from the words of Jesus to the book of Acts—to show that salvation and being filled with the Holy Spirit are related but not identical experiences. Salvation brings the life of God within you. But the infilling of the Holy Spirit brings power upon you—power to witness, to minister, and to live a bold, Spirit-empowered life.
Many believers fall into one of two extremes. Some say, “If you’re saved, you already have everything—there’s nothing more.” Others say, “You’re not even saved unless you speak in tongues.” But when we let the Word speak for itself, both extremes collapse. The Bible reveals a balanced truth:
You are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Then, as a believer, you can receive the Holy Spirit in fullness.
Through powerful scriptural examples—Samaria (Acts 8), Cornelius’ house (Acts 10), and Ephesus (Acts 19)—you will see a consistent pattern: people believed first, then received the Holy Spirit. In many cases, there was clear, observable evidence—such as speaking in tongues and prophetic utterance—not as a requirement for salvation, but as a sign of Spirit-filling.
This teaching also reveals the beautiful imagery Jesus used:
A well within you (John 4:14) — representing salvation and eternal life
Rivers flowing out of you (John 7:38) — representing the overflow of the Holy Spirit
The well is for your life. The rivers are for others. The well sustains you. The rivers empower you to impact the world.
You will also learn how to receive the Holy Spirit in a simple, biblical way:
Ask the Father in Jesus’ name
Believe you receive the moment you ask
Yield to the Holy Spirit and speak as He gives utterance
No confusion. No striving. No fear. Just simple faith in God’s promise.
This message emphasizes something vital: order brings safety, clarity, and power. You don’t seek the Holy Spirit before salvation—you receive Christ first. Then, as a child of God, you can confidently ask your Heavenly Father for the Holy Spirit, knowing He gives good gifts.
You’ll also discover how to live continually filled:
Feeding on the Word
Praying in the Spirit
Worshiping with thanksgiving
Guarding your heart from fear and unbelief
This is not a one-time experience—it’s a lifestyle of being continually filled, continually empowered, and continually flowing.
If you’ve ever felt like there’s more to your Christian life… you’re right.
There is life within you—and there is power waiting to flow through you.
It’s time to stop living at the level of the well… and step into the rivers.
