Teaching Traditional Flatfoot (Jig) Dance

Flatfoot percussive dance, called "Jig Dance" or "Jigging" in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri, is the percussive dance form that developed into clogging and tap. Flatfoot dance can provide a percussive line to accompany an Old Time Fiddle Tune, provide beat and drive to a traditional square dance, or give pulse to ballad singing. The basics of flatfoot dance are easy to master and are popular with all ages, especially teens and young adults.
