Gershwin described this late song as his "Brahms Song" .Grainger admired Gershwin as one of the greatest songwriters along .with Schubert, Schumann Stephen Foster' Grieg. His transcription is not in the Gershwin style but a more romantic setting that indeed recalls Brahms.. It is a love scene . The young Grainger was one of the greatest virtuoso pianists of his day and often played this as an encore in his piano recitals
