This historic working stable, home to the Royal Family's coaches and carriages including the iconic Gold State Coach, has played a significant role in every coronation and royal wedding since its inception. Throughout its history, the Mews has been a vibrant community, housing staff and their families, with Queen Victoria even establishing a school on site. It has witnessed significant historical events, from hosting a tea party for wounded soldiers during World War I to suffering bomb damage in World War II. Open to the public for much of its history, the Royal Mews today welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, offering a unique behind-the-scenes look at the Royal Household's transport operations.
