Add a Zero

Verse 1 (soft, piano) I'm gonna make a change, for once in my math life, Gonna feel real good, gonna say it right. I used to look at the tens like a mountain to climb, Then I saw the secret — and it saved me every time. Verse 2 Take the number that you've got, give it a zero on the end, Three becomes thirty, five becomes fifty, my friend. Ten times two is twenty, ten times four is forty — When I looked in the mirror, the answer looked back at me. Chorus (building) I'm starting with the ten in the mirror, I'm asking it to show me the way — Add a zero, and it couldn't be clearer, Ten times six is sixty, ten times seven, seventy — hey! If you want to make the tables feel lighter, Take a look at the tens and make that change! Verse 3 Ten times eight is eighty, ten times nine is ninety, Ten times ten, one hundred — now it's shining right on me. Ten times eleven, one-ten, ten times twelve, one-twenty, A zero at the end — and the answers come a-plenty. Bridge (choir enters, hand-claps) Add a zero! (Add a zero!) Ten times three? (Thirty!) Add a zero! (Add a zero!) Ten times five? (Fifty!) Ten times nine? (Ninety!) Ten times twelve? (One-twenty!) Make that change! Final chorus (full choir, key change) I'm starting with the ten in the mirror, I'm asking it to show me the way — Add a zero, and it couldn't be clearer, Every answer ends in zero — hey, hey! If you want to make the tables feel lighter, Take a look at the tens — and make that change! Outro (ad-lib, fading) Make that change... add a zero... make that change... (Hoo!) ... make that change...
