Though I hope to make it an actual game if I could get into contact with CapCom... 🎵 “Fading Lines” is an original song based on my fan-created story, following May-Haven as she struggles with her identity, her terrifying biological power, and the fear that she may be nothing more than a monster. Through the darkness of the Forest of Echoes, she discovers that the scars of her past don't have to determine who she becomes. This is my personal fan interpretation of a Resident Evil story and is not part of official Resident Evil canon. --- LYRICS — “FADING LINES” [Intro] [Slow, decaying piano chords ring out with massive cavernous reverb] [A low, vibrating sub-bass hum chokes the low end] [Sounds of rusted metal scraping and howling wind echo in the distance] [Vocalist sings in a fragile, hollow whisper, right against the microphone] I'm surrounded by the shadows, Born from pain From the choices I didn't even make... [Piano keys drag heavily, cellos enter with low, scraping notes] Covered in scars, lines fade across my skin Born from the shadow of the monster within I’m not like the rest, I wander alone A stranger to hope in a forest of stone I try to prove myself, I try to heal But I just break down... [Distant, heavy industrial thuds strike on the downbeats like a slow death march] [Low, scraping cellos rise, sounding tense and distorted] Take my hand, I'm bleeding... Hold me now, I need ya... Look into my eyes, what do you see? See the years of pain riddled beneath my skin See the monster that rages within! [SUDDEN HEAVY CLIMAX - SLOW MOTION CRASH] [Massive, distorted synth walls block out the air, booming orchestral drums strike] [Vocals erupt into a raw, painful, throat-tearing cry, heavily layered with harmonies] BUT I AM ALIVE IN THE WRECKAGE OF IT ALL! Let the lines fade, let the kingdom fall! You gave me hope, you gave me light, We’ll burn the darkness with a bleeding hand! They can’t erase us, they can’t break the bond we made In the ruins of the world, we will never fade! Oh, we will never fade! Fading lines across my skin, I rise above and feel alive within! [The instrumentation drops back to just the decaying piano and the sub-bass hum] [The sound is incredibly empty, cold, and intimate] I see the shadows stretching through the pines Tracing the ghosts of all our broken lines You hold a past too heavy for your hands And I am a secret written in the sand The cold is creeping, the fog is rolling in Where does the nightmare end and we begin? [Industrial thuds return, building a suffocating layer of tension] Take my hand, I'm bleeding... Hold me now, I need ya... Look into my eyes, what do you see? Heavy, distorted guitars added to the synth wall] [Cellos play a weeping, tragic descending melody] AND I AM ALIVE IN THE WRECKAGE OF IT ALL! Let the lines fade, let the kingdom fall!
