How to play Remember Me (from Coco) ACCURATELY on the ukulele. 0:00 Remember Me (from 'Coco'): full playthrough with vocals 1:07 Spoken introduction 1:39 Tuning notes 1:44 Time signature changes 2:07 Fingerings 2:27 Verse 1 tutorial 7:18 Verse 1 slow playthrough 7:57 Verse 2 tutorial 12:21 Verse 2 slow playthrough 13:07 Whole song - slow playthrough (no vocals) 14:29 Sign-off I'm yet to see an accurate ukulele transcription of the guitar part to this song on YouTube. There are some great singers accompanying themselves with simplified chords, and some incomplete and incorrect ukulele transcriptions, but I haven't seen anybody accurately translate the beautiful guitar part or the correct chords to ukulele. I actually transcribed this song several years ago for a pupil of mine, but have only just got around to making a video! I love this song, the chords and melody are beautiful - it's a real work of art and says so much in less than 2 minutes. I spent a long time transcribing the guitar part and vocal melody from the scene in Coco where Hector plays it on the guitar to his young daughter Coco. There are many different versions of Remember Me in the movie, I transcribed that version. I memorised the song the day before recording it, and sang it so many times when practicing that my falsetto was broken when I came to record it! That's my excuse for the dodgy vocals anyway! This song is played rubato (free-time) in places. There are also some time signature changes. Here is the structure of the song; Verse 1: | 4/4 C | 5/4 Fm | 4/4 C |Bb9 E7 | |Am (double stops) |Bb6 C7 |F (double stops) |Ab+ G7sus4 | |2/4 G7sus4 | Verse 2: |4/4 C |Fm |C |Gm7 C7 | |F (double stops) |3/4 Em E7 Am | Ab |Ab |G5 | |Abmaj7b5 Abmaj7 Csus4 |C | 4/4 means 4 beats per bar 5/4 means 5 beats per bar 2/4 means 2 beats per bar 3/4 means 3 beats per bar A split bar of 4/4 means there are two chords in the bar, and the 4 beats are split equally between them, so 2 beats on each chord. i.e. the Bb9 and E7 bar above. The 3/4 bars that have 3 chords in them are played as one beat on each chord. i.e. the Em E7 Am bar above. I made this video for the intermediate/advanced ukulele player. ------------------------------------ Cliff Smith, BMus(Hons) is a guitar, ukulele and music theory tutor who gives lessons online via Zoom.
