Hey Friends. 👋 A few thoughts on Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Demo. I did enjoy playing the game, but am I the only PS5 player who felt the controller buttons 🎮 had a slight delay? It could just be a timing issue on my end, not sure. I know fans are divided by the color palette, and I understand why many wanted a darker, more vintage aesthetic. Still, I don’t mind this new bright artistic direction. It’s certainly a lot more vibrant than previous installments, with some critics even debating its traditional "Castlevania" feel. I’ve avoided spoiler videos showing extra content from people with early access because I want to experience it fresh, so I don't want to rush to judgment on just a small sample. Even if nothing changes with the palette, I’m playing all the way through. It's tempting to destroy everything for hidden loot (mmmm, Turkey 🍗) and wipe out every enemy in sight, but some levels don't always require that tediousness (at least not for me). One interesting observation is the Mirror Room save point. I entered with four health salves and walked out with three. It's likely just a tutorial safeguard to demonstrate how healing and restoration work IF you use the Mirror, but we'll have to wait and see if that carries over into the full game. The game opens up once you gain the Arcane Whip. You're teased with anchor points visible throughout the map early on, but after defeating The Fallen, acquiring the whip lets you zip around the environment much more swiftly. Even better, you can whip toward an enemy, pull yourself right into them, and inflict immediate damage. That was fun. On the bright side (no pun intended), I love that the game rewards exploration with secret areas. Finding the Cestus weapon hidden off in the sewers was awesome. Punching and combo-ing away at enemies felt great. I’m looking forward to finding all the weapons, learning their move sets, and finding the one that truly clicks with my play style. I hinted at this earlier, so to no surprise I will be buying the game. I hadn’t pre-ordered yet, but I’m diving in day one just to see what else the full release has in store. Anywho, unsure if I missed anything. If I did, let me know.
