SCP-2005 Predicting the Past

SCP-2005 is a series of extraterrestrial probes sent from the Teegarden's Star system to monitor human civilization. Disguised differently in each iteration—ranging from a teardrop probe to a zeppelin and a space-suited humanoid—their primary function is to collect cultural media, audio, and visual data. Due to an extreme communication delay across 12.5 light-years, the alien creators misconstrued human science fiction (such as H.G. Wells and Flash Gordon) as actual historical predictions of Earth's future, causing the probes to desperately seek out and study human sci-fi tropes.
