*Early Arrival* VCFD Brush Fire Initial Attack - North Ranch Open Space

At around 2:00 PM on August 2nd, 2026, the Ventura County Fire Department received reports of a brush fire in the area of Westlake Blvd. and Kanan Rd. A Battalion Chief reported a loom up from Station 44 and dark smoke was visible on fire cams. Engine 37 was first on scene and reported a half acre in light to medium fuels with a moderate rate of spread. There was an immediate structure threat to the north and south of the fire, with MRE31 and ME36 arriving shortly after and forming a structure protection group along Brunston Ct. The fire was held at 26 acres and units remained on scene into the evening to ensure a complete knockdown. North Ranch 8/2/26 #vcfd
