UK Acid Folk Deep Dive (1967–1972)

Hey all! In this video I take a deep dive into UK acid folk / psychedelic folk. Tracing the moment when traditional British folk music began to drift into more psychedelic, mystical, and experimental territory between 1967 and 1972. I focus on original UK vinyl pressings and explore the stories behind them. These records blend acoustic folk, Eastern influences, surreal lyrics and pastoral psychedelia, capturing a very specific moment in British underground music history. As always, I share close-ups of the vinyl, labels, and sleeves, and play short music samples to give a sense of each album’s atmosphere. 0:00 Start 1:13 When Folk Went Psychedelic - Incredible String Band 4:17 Incredible String Band "The 5000 Spirits Or The Layers Of The Onion" (UK 1967 on Elektra) 6:56 Dr. Strangely Strange "Kip Of The Serenes" (UK 1969 on Island Records) 9:50 C.O.B.
