*NEET PG 2026 Counselling: Could Seat Blocking Cause a NEGATIVE SHIFT in Round 3?*
One of the most important factors that NEET PG aspirants may need to watch during counselling this year is **seat blocking**.
During this year's NEET UG counselling, we observed an interesting situation: *MCC All India Counselling involved online reporting, while several State Counsellings involved physical reporting.* This difference in the reporting process may have contributed to situations where candidates held seats across different counselling systems.
At VidyaSaarthi, we analysed Haryana counselling data and identified candidates who had taken admission through **Haryana State Counselling as well as All India Counselling**.
This raises an important question:
Could a similar situation occur during NEET PG 2026 Counselling?
If a significant number of candidates temporarily hold seats through different counselling processes, the seat availability seen in the early rounds may not represent the eventual availability of seats.
This could potentially result in:
• Seats being blocked during the initial rounds
• Candidates upgrading or resigning from their earlier seats
• Previously occupied seats becoming available later
• Unexpected movement in Round 3
• Some seats reaching the Stray Vacancy Round
• Branch-wise cutoffs behaving differently from what early-round trends suggest
Why could Round 3 be particularly important?
If seats that were temporarily blocked in Rounds 1 and 2 are subsequently released because of **upgradation, resignation, withdrawal or other counselling-related events**, Round 3 could potentially see additional seats entering the available pool.
As a result, aspirants may observe *negative shifts in closing ranks for some branches* compared with earlier rounds.
However, it is important to understand that the Haryana NEET UG data is an **observed pattern, not proof of what will happen in NEET PG 2026**. NEET PG counselling has its own rules, seat matrices, reporting requirements, resignation provisions and candidate behaviour. The actual outcome will depend on the policies and data released by MCC and the respective State Counselling authorities.
What should NEET PG aspirants monitor?
Instead of looking only at Round 1 or Round 2 closing ranks, aspirants should closely track:
*• MCC Seat Matrix*
*• State Seat Matrices*
*• Joined Candidates*
*• Resignations / Withdrawals*
*• Newly Released Seats*
*• Round-wise Changes in Seat Availability*
These factors can provide a better understanding of the actual movement taking place during counselling.
In this video, we explain the *seat-blocking phenomenon, the Haryana NEET UG data we observed, its possible implications for NEET PG counselling, and why Round 3 could be an important round to watch.*

The actual seat movement in NEET PG 2026 will depend on official rules, seat matrices, joining data, resignations, withdrawals and other decisions of MCC and the respective State Counselling authorities. Any potential trend discussed in this video should not be considered a guaranteed prediction.
