In this video I will talk about how to reduce the weight of a Drone with minimal effort and cost, especially for long range rigs. I'm using my iFlight Chimera 7 LR DJI as an example, but everything I talk about should work on most long range drones.
At the moment for obvious reasons it's not possible to get out and fly, meaning that I cannot make my usual test flights, so I took advantage of the forced downtime and made this video hoping to provide some useful information. I plan to make another video in the next few days, sharing the data from my battery usage tests showing how weight influences the flight time.
Before starting the "diet", my drone weight was 622 grams (all up excluding the battery). After the changes I showed in this video, I managed to shave off 66 grams, for a final weight of 556 grams. Tecnically the weight savings are even bigger, around 70 grams, since the initial 622 grams already took into account the battery straps).
