Some people don't need to be reminded that life is short. They've lived through the moments that make you wish time would stand still. ‪@thejessicajanzen‬ is one of those people. She's a mother who knows the unimaginable heartbreak of losing a child. She's also a woman who laughs loudly, dreams boldly, loves fiercely and refuses to let grief have the final say in how she lives. And I think that's what moved me most about our conversation. Because how do you make room for both? How do you carry heartbreak and still welcome joy? How do you keep becoming when life has changed you in ways you never asked for? We talked about the parts of being human that don't always make it into the highlight reels. The pressure we put on ourselves. The identities we hold onto. The moments we question whether we have anything left to give. And what it means to keep showing up through all of it. What I appreciate about Jess is that she doesn't pretend life is easy. She reminds us that joy doesn't require a perfect life. And choosing it doesn't mean pretending the painful parts never happened. There's room for all of it. The tears. The laughter. The anger. The ambition. The exhaustion. The gratitude. The days when getting out of bed feels like an accomplishment. *You can love your life and still grieve parts of it.* I hope this conversation gives you permission to be a little more human with yourself. To stop measuring your strength by how well you hide the hard stuff. And to remember that there is still so much life waiting to be lived.
