Going out to Cass, WV to take the Shay Train Excursion to the top of Bald Knob mountain. This video shows how the logging train would go up the mountains travel down. parts of this video is narrated by a lady that works for the excursion. She tell some interesting information along the way. You will see the train stop to switch tracks in order to climb up the mountain better. Also the train stops to oil the gears and and to add water. Bald Knob is the highest summit in Pocahontas County, WV. at the altitude of 4,843 feet above sea level. There are other mountains in the Allegheny Mountains that are higher, this is the 3rd highest. I loved the sound of the whistles as we traveled. At the top of Bald Knob we had a box lunch that was good and sat at a picnic table to eat. then went up to the locomotive to get a nice shot of it. as soon as I got there the whistle blew to reboard the train. Unfortunately I was not able to go out on the platform and look at the mountains that were so beautiful. The seating was different from the other excursion we were on not long before. This seating was a long bench that looked out one side of the train, and another facing the other side. I think there were about 50 people per car. I was going to finish by puting together the down hill trip, not sure if I will do that or not yet. The next morning we went back out to catch UT coming back in and leaving. But to our surprise the put on an additional locomotive, smaller one but it was good to see that. I will put that video up once I am able to. Weather was beautiful with little clouds Temperature was in the low 70's to mid 70's. Time locomotive came in about 11:30am and came back from the excursion about 4:30pm Date July 22, 2021 THANKS FOR WATCHING I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY VIDEO PLEASE LIKE, COMMENT & SUBSCRIBE RING THAT BELL
