Compressor divers might not be as trendy as they used to be, but the ones that are still around have gotten so much better. Case in point: the newly refined Zelos Helmsman! Originally the watch that launched the brand back in 2014, the Helmsman is back with its latest batch featuring five exotic dial options. Check It Out here: https://zeloswatches.com/collections/... In this review, I'm checking out the Forged Carbon version, which brings a really cool textured wood grain look paired with high-viz orange accents. We'll dive into the ideal 40mm compressor dimensions (and its incredibly thin 12.5mm profile), test out the notoriously tricky orange lume, check the fully articulating "beads of rice bracelet", and discuss why this is the second best compressor diver I've ever reviewed (right behind the much pricier Christopher Ward). ⌚ Watch Specs: Dimensions: 40mm width | 46.4mm lug-to-lug | 12.5mm thick (including box sapphire) Movement: Miyota 9015 Automatic Water Resistance: 200m (Dual screw-down and lumed crowns) Lug Width: 20mm Weight: 170g (on the bracelet) Dial Options: Forged Carbon, Aventurine, Full Lume Sky Blue, Garnet Stone, Teal Mother of Pearl Price: Ranging from $549 - $599 Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro: The State of Compressor Divers 0:49 - The History of the Zelos Helmsman 2:11 - Dimensions: The Ideal Size for a Compressor 3:22 - The 12.5mm Thickness Advantage 3:57 - Key Specs & Case Finishing 5:07 - Beads of Rice Bracelet & On-The-Fly Clasp 6:23 - The 5 New Exotic Dial Options 7:37 - Hands-On with the CNC Forged Carbon Dial 9:07 - High-Viz Orange Accents (Motorsport Vibes?) 10:02 - The Bad: Orange Lume Longevity Test 10:57 - Pricing & Movement Cost Increases 11:47 - Final Verdict: The 2nd Best Compressor? What do you think of this batch of the Zelos Helmsman? Do you wish they would bring back some standard, non-exotic dials for this model? Let me know your thoughts down below!
