Stephen Kovacevich - Live from Wigmore Hall

All of us at Wigmore Hall were saddened to learn of the passing of Stephen Kovacevich. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. Kovacevich made his debut at Wigmore Hall in 1961, and from here performed at the Hall on many occasions, including a celebration of his 85th birthday last October with Irène Duval and Martha Argerich. He also performed as part of our broadcast series during socially-distanced performances in 2020 - this concert was live streamed at the time, and is now available to watch again. (Reuploaded October 2026) These concerts are free to view but your donations are essential. We are relying on the generosity of our audience to make these concerts possible. Together we can continue to provide work for musicians and present live music from Wigmore Hall. If you are watching, please visit our website and make a contribution. Thank you. https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/donate The American pianist and conductor made his European debut at Wigmore Hall in 1961 and has gone on to become one of the most revered pianists of his generation. His programme consists of Bach’s Partita No. 4 which was, unusually, published during the composer’s lifetime, and Schubert’s final sonata, written in September of the last year of his life (1828).
