Creating my Materia Medica binder for Western herbalism - making categories and organizing herb info.
In this video I go through the painstaking beginning process of figuring out what I want to do with my binder, and start the process.
I've been studying western herbalism since 2002 but am finally getting my Materia Medica in a 3 ring binder. Prior to that it was all over the place...on various computers, in various notebooks...
My herbs are organized by Chinese Medicine herbal categories. That's just what makes sense to me. Use whatever organization system that makes sense to you!

DO NOT go out and buy any herb I mention and start using it randomly!!
Consult your primary health care provider when necessary. Herbalism is not "alternative" medicine in my opinion and experience, it works alongside conventional medicine.
If you are interested in learning herbalism, consulting reputable books by established authors is a good place to start.
Before you use or buy anything make sure you research this herb in at least 3 reputable herbalist authors' books.
Herbs may have herb-drug interactions, so be informed before using anything.
When searching about herbs online, type the word "research" at the end of your query.
Working with a qualified herbalist is also a good idea, even if you are learning herbalism yourself.
