SDJR Relived | Great Central Railway - Remembering the Somerset & Dorset Railway - 07/03/26

The 7th March 1966 saw the closure of the Somerset & Dorset Railway. 60 years on, and the Great Central Railway recreate scenes of the SDJR to mark the anniversary. Home based BR Standard 5MT 73156 was joined with visiting Battle of Britain Class 34072 '257 Squadron' and BR Standard 9F 92134, with recreations of the Manchester - Bournemouth "Pines Express" along with 34072 running a recreation of the LCGB's 'Somerset & Dorset Rail Tour", which ran over the Mendips two days prior to the line's closure on 5th March with classmates 34006 'Bude' and 34057 'Biggin Hill'.
