Hirakud Releases Water, Mundali & Naraj on High Watch Heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh has triggered a continuous inflow of water into the Mahanadi river system. Authorities at Hirakud Dam have opened 13 sluice gates (9 on the left side and 4 on the right side) to discharge 1,41,360 cusecs of floodwater, with a current reservoir level standing at 629.58 feet. Significant discharge has been recorded across key sites including Khairmal, Barmul, Mundali, Naraj, and Jobra.
