RIOJA: 100km of Diversity

Well this was a big one. Rioja, the most famous and legendary wine region in Spain. Despite the region itself being a happy place of mine I must admit I often shun Rioja on a daily basis. Every bar from here to kingdom has a generic Rioja by the glass. And I'm bored. Enter the Rioja Educator Course in conjunction with the Wine Scholar Guild and the Consejo Regulador. A handpicked few from around the world who passed the initial entry test were selected for an intense week of winery visits, tastings, reunions with winemakers and lots and lots of food. I have since fallen back in love with the region, appreciating now its nuances and complexity - still sadly not present in said generic bars. I hope you all enjoy the adventure! I'm still recovering!
