My Model Railway Master Plan and History | 4 Countries, iTrain & One Huge Layout

In this model railway layout update, I explains the history behind Woodthorp International and, more importantly, the big plan for the layout as the project starts to take shape. The layout will eventually bring four different countries together — America, Japan, Europe and England — with trains able to travel between the different areas and fiddle yards using iTrain automation. In the American section, I show the planned autumn scenery, two railway circuits, industries, a lumber yard, furniture factory, trestle bridge, lake, waterfall and a hand-built working funicular railway. Japan will be on the lower level with a winter and snow theme, including a station, Japanese trains and a planned train de-icing effect. I also explain how the helixes and fiddle yards will connect the different countries, allowing trains to travel from one part of the layout to another. The ultimate goal is for a train to leave one country and potentially travel through several countries before returning. The future England and Europe sections will include their own fiddle yards, industries, stations and scenery. England will feature a large container terminal with a ship carrying more than 300 containers, while Europe will include a terminus station and an Alpine mountain scene featuring the Glacier Express.
