Pokémon that learn the move naturally get an exception (new as of 6/18/23). 5. No saving between Elite 4 members. What is the Badge Boost Glitch? When you collect odd numbered badges the game boosts a stat by 12.5%. Brock gives attack, Surge gives defense, Koga gives speed, and Blaine gives special. When any of your stats are modified, even if your opponent uses a move to modify your stats like Growl, the badge boosts are re-applied. So If you use Swords Dance, you also gain an additional 12.5% in Speed/Defense/Special (on top of the 12.5% you were supposed to be getting). When you level up, the game corrects this error and recalculates your stats, and only the non-glitch 12.5% remains.
