LIVE | In this episode of UP Bulletin, we examine three controversies that have raised questions about public responsibility, political accountability and the use of power in Uttar Pradesh. Bageshwar Dham preacher Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has apologised after his remarks comparing Lord Ram and Lord Krishna triggered widespread criticism. During a Ram Katha in Karera, Madhya Pradesh, he described Lord Krishna as “crooked” while contrasting him with Lord Ram. The comments drew objections from religious figures in Mathura and Vrindavan, as well as political leaders including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Shastri later folded his hands and said he never intended to create differences between devotees or disrespect any deity. But Akhilesh continued to question his remarks and demanded action. What exactly did Shastri say, and why did the controversy escalate? The second story concerns serious allegations of extortion in the Uttar Pradesh Congress. A viral email, addressed to senior party leaders, alleges that people claiming to be close to UP Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam demanded money from aspiring candidates in exchange for organisational positions and Assembly tickets ahead of the 2027 elections. The email names several individuals and makes allegations of large payments. These claims have not been independently verified, and no guilt can be established on the basis of a viral email. Rajendra Pal Gautam had earlier warned people about fraudsters allegedly using his and the party's name to demand money. The questions now are: what is the truth behind the email, and will the party investigate? Finally, UP Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar is facing attention over a speech in Banda in which he called himself the country's biggest “goon” and claimed that several controversial political figures used to visit his court. His remarks about having the power to take out someone's other eye have also drawn scrutiny. Watch the full episode for all the details and political reactions. Produced by: Shubham Edited by: Mann
