Alissa Anderson is the founder of Foggy Notion, an independent retail shop and neighborhood institution in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond that she’s run for fifteen years. Before opening the shop, she toured internationally as a cellist, but ultimately built something quieter, more local, and entirely on her own terms.
In this episode of Becoming the Practice, we talk about what it means to build a business around your actual life, curation as a values practice, the difference between scaling and deepening, what real luxury looks like when you’ve designed your own schedule, and why she’s never wanted to expand beyond one location.
If you’re drawn to slow business, right livelihood, women entrepreneurs, indie retail, or San Francisco creative culture, this one’s for you.
Becoming the Practice is a podcast about living from within. Host Mira Blackman sits down with artists, healers, makers, and visionaries doing the work in real time.
