The "math rock" and "post-rock" genres recieved a notorious surge in popularity in the late 1990s-early 2000s, becoming especially popular in America and Japan. Many bands came and went during this time, some have stuck around, and some left a legacy on music in different ways.
I think it's fair to say one of the most unique and original bands to come out of this period is DILUTE. A band nearly shrouded in a mystery in itself. Only active between 1997-2002, with only two studio albums to their name, and a shockingly dedicated bootlegging scene still active to this day. Many have duplicated, but so far none have replicated their unique style of music composition.
A band who can seamlessly deconstruct a song, then continue normally as if nothing happened. A band that can write the most beautiful melody and only play it for 5 seconds. A band who can be as blatantly heart-wrenching, shocking, or nonsensical. Every time you listen to the same song again, you'll hear something new. That's the magic of DILUTE.
While better known for their 2001 (or 2002?) release "Grape Blueprints Pour Spinach Olive Grape", their first album "The Gypsy Valentine Curve" recieved a release in Japan on the independent Toad Records label, who also released works by Hella, Deerhoof and 2UP. It is very, very rare, to the point where I myself have only seen three copies for sale online. I was lucky enough to get one for only 1200 yen (roughly 10 USD).
This release comes with some exclusive artwork, a bonus mini CD (3"/8cm) of live recordings, but strangely, the disc does not include track 8 of the original release, titled "Improsivisations". The reason for this is unknown (if you know, please leave a comment).
Unfortunately, the main album does not have any other major changes, which is as to be expected, but I noticed nobody has uploaded this version of the album to YouTube previously, so I hope you enjoy.
I will also upload the live recordings separately.

Oh, and here's a secret that many people still don't know - turn up your volume quite a ways at the start of "Rock and or Roll". (This secret is present on the original American CD release as well!)
I never have nor will monetize these videos. If advertisements are playing on them, most likely the song(s) have been content matched by YouTube and the artist(s) is/are making all of the profit on this upload.
