In this hands-on lab demonstration, we explore how to secure applications hosted in Microsoft Azure using security controls relevant to the SC-500 Cloud and AI Security Engineer learning path. The focus is on protecting application access, managing identities and permissions, and applying security controls to reduce the risk of unauthorized access. IN THIS DEMO, YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO: Configure security controls for Azure applications. Secure application access using Microsoft Entra ID, where applicable. Review authentication and authorization settings. Apply access restrictions and least-privilege principles. Configure network security controls, where applicable. Validate the application security configuration. SECURITY CONCEPTS Identity and authentication: Verify who is accessing the application. Authorization: Control what authenticated users and applications can do. Least privilege: Grant only the permissions required. Defence in depth: Apply multiple layers of protection to reduce security risks. The key takeaway is that application security requires more than protecting the application itself. Identity, permissions, network access, and monitoring all play an important role. LAB RESOURCES AND PRACTICE Use this demonstration as a learning reference and practise the configuration in your own Azure environment. The specific controls covered depend on the application and services used in the lab. AZURE COST NOTICE Application hosting, networking, and security features may incur charges. Review pricing before deployment and remove lab resources when they are no longer needed.
