Connor McDavid's heater, the Oilers are rolling, and Mattias Ekholm's injury | ONR

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of ONR is ready to massage your mind feelings with an hour of Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' 6-5 shootout win over the Hurricanes, Connor McDavid's ridiculous heater, looked at Saturday's matchup against the Leafs, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Connor McDavid's points totals. Despite putting predictions down before the season even started, the guys decided to do another round of McDavid predictions for how many points he'll have by the Christmas break. As you'll hear, the boys are feeling incredibly bullish on McDavid's points totals, even though the exercise itself is borderline ridiculous. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' season debut, and how he made an immediate impact in his return. With the goal and assist plus the shootout winner, RNH showed why he's still one of the most important players on this team, and how crucial it is for the Oilers to have him in the lineup. Arguably the biggest down side from Thursday's win over Carolina was the fact that Mattias Ekholm went down hard and is expected to miss at least a week. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk before wrapping up the podcast with a round of Ask the Idiots and score predictions ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Leafs. With the first month of the 2026-27 season nearly in the books, the boys had plenty to talk about after what was another wild week for the Edmonton Oilers. Either way, the boys are so back and there is nothing better than a good old Oilers heater. 00:00 - Intro 02:00 - we love Oodle noodle 04:30 - how many points will mcd finish Christmas with 09:00 - 5-point performances 10:30 - McDavid is enjoying himself 14:30 - some insane 18:40 - insane gap between shootout wins 22:30 - return of the Nuge 27:00 - ragging the puck in overtime 30:00 - Devon Levi banged up 34:00 - muhkamadullin 39:00 - still concerned about the Oilers' lack of depth scoring 40:30 - Leafs-Oilers preview 56:00 - thoughts on Nuge return 1:00:00 - does Babs get credit? 1:04:00 - Hot & Cold performers SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS! 👍 Powered by bet365: http://www.bet365.ca/ 👍 Swiss Donair: https://swissdonair.com/
