FROGMAN TALE | Thorn T023 40mm V4 Tropic Review | Vintage "Legacy Diver" with an innovative touch

Hello my fellow watch enthusiast! This video is slightly different from the usual ones uploaded before in my older channels. It's a special video going back to the roots of what makes watches such a fun hobby :) The Thorn T023 40mm V4 Tropic, is a really fun watch it loos great ticks most boxes with flying colors, powered by the tried and tested PT5000 (ghost date position on the tropic), it's a slim vintage inspired dive watch at 12.3mm thickness with an impressive domed sapphire, 40mm size and alleged 200M water resistance. Another strong suit of the Thorn T023 is its "Iconography", the logo, fonts and all play crucial part the differentiate the Thorn form its respected competitors. Granted, Thorn did follow the unwarranted trend of Chinese and left a trademark quirk in the form of the horridious "FROGMANTLE" naming scheme. Here's hoping the "creative" person in charge of said horridious "FROGMANTLE" had some loose logic behind it other than just portmanteau word play on frogman and mantle (Mantle noun; a loose sleeveless garment worn over other clothes/a figurative cloak symbolizing preeminence or authority/something that covers, enfolds, or envelops/the upper back of a bird/a lacy hood or sheath of some refractory). Set aside the semantic logic or more precisely lack thereof semantic logic within the realms of Chinese micro brands naming schemes and let me offer my whimsical take. Drawing on my unquestionable horological prowess and unauthorized authority lol. A. Frogman B. Tle short for Tale. A+B = Frogman Tale; Tales of Frogman. Echoing the long standing IMAGINED heritage, full of adventures and tales of brave Frogman wearing the Thorn T023, fun right? But I digress lol Admittedly, the bracelet on the previous versions was awful. However, it's part of charm and it's echoing the bracelets of the past, of the models it draws its inspiration from. Whilst the V4 bracelet is still feels quite flimsy it is period accurate and correspond with steel bracelets of the 1970s. Nevertheless, the V4 make up for its flimsiness in a quite ingenious link removal system, only time will tell how robust it is. All in all, the Thorn T023 V4 "FROGMAN TALE" is a wonderful homage and hella fun of a watch to have! The quirky naming scheme, flimsy yet innovative bracelet, decent lume and a lively community of hobbyists doing all types of mods are all part of its unique character.
