2017–2025 Mazda CX-5 Rear Brake Pads & Rotors Replacement | EPB Maintenance Mode DIY

HOW TO PUT YOUR MAZDA CX-5 INTO EPB (ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE) MAINTENANCE/SERVICE MODE: Before replacing the rear brake pads or rotors, put the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) into maintenance mode so the rear caliper pistons can be serviced properly. Entering EPB Maintenance Mode: 1. Turn the ignition ON without starting the engine. 2. Make sure the electronic parking brake is released. 3. Fully press and hold the accelerator pedal. 4. Push and hold the EPB switch in the RELEASE direction. 5. While holding both, cycle the ignition OFF and then back ON. 6. The EPB motors should retract and the EPB/maintenance indicator will illuminate, indicating the system is in maintenance mode. Exiting EPB Maintenance Mode after the brake job: 1. Turn the ignition ON. 2. Fully press and hold the accelerator pedal. 3. Pull and hold the EPB switch in the APPLY direction. 4. While holding both, cycle the ignition OFF and then back ON. 5. The EPB system should operate and return to normal mode. 6.
