In this video I guide you through the complete story of Dragon Quest I, cinematically retold from beginning to end. This is where it all began. Important Info This video isn't a summary, a discussion, or a simplified retelling. It's an attempt to do Dragon Quest I complete justice while I attempt to capture its emotion, its world building, and its story in the way I believe it was intended to be experienced. Dragon Quest is a series built on exploration. Hidden dialogues, missable NPCs, optional locations except these aren't extras, they're the soul of the experience. Pieces of the world moving naturally on their own, foreshadowing events sometimes hours before the story makes them relevant. That's what makes the world of Alefgard and that's what makes dragon quest feel real. And that's what I've tried to honour here. My goal is to do more than just narrate through the story. But to capture its emotion and piece the wider narrative together, whilst explaining the context of events and highlighting the world building that so many people miss. I paraphrase where needed, condense where necessary, and translate the old English into something more natural because at the end of the day, I'm shortening a 15+ hour game into roughly an hour whilst trying to keep everything that matters. One thing worth noting. Dragon Quest I is an open world game, and personal exploration is encouraged. The order of events may differ slightly from your own playthrough. I've done my best to place everything as naturally as possible, but I may have missed a thing or two along the way. Bear with me since this is my interpretation and my experience, told with as much care and justice as I can give it. Irrelevant Personal Note Im not exaggerating when i say i spent around 53 hours on this game, playing, scripting, voicing and editing this video.. The script ended up about 12,000 words long I also grinded this out in just a couple days, was hoping to post it earlier to release but i was extremely busy having a life for a few days i couldnt work on it at all.. And to top it all off i have been extremely sick but i tried my best to hide it in my voicing.. Sometimes you may notice my voice change briefly and thats why.. So instead im posting this video later than planned exactly 7 days after official release.. It usually takes me around 7 days for a regular video but this i really pushed to complete ASAP… Im still really happy with the final product and the sheer dedication i had for this video kept me pushing through..
