There’s a specific kind of heartbreak that comes with kissing your feverish toddler goodbye to go chase your own goals. In this vlog, I’m pulling back the curtain on the reality of the mom/athlete/manager juggle. After a brutal night of zero sleep and nursing Isla’s 3 AM fever, the mom guilt hit me like a ton of bricks. We went to the ER at 5AM and got her antibiotics and I got in a car at 9AM without her to head to HYROX. The tug-of-war in your heart between wanting to honour the commitment you made to your team and your passions, and just wanting to stay home and hold your sick baby is so incredibly heavy. We pushed through and made it across the border to Shenzhen for competition day, but I won't sugarcoat it: things did not go as planned. After months of hard work, training, and preparation, we fell completely flat. We didn't get the time we wanted, and honestly, we didn't even have fun. But as an athlete (and a mom!), you learn to take the hits, go back to the drawing board, and refuse to give up. After rushing back home to my baby girl, we immediately pivoted to our next adventure: tackling a long-haul flight to the UK just the two of us. Traveling alone with a toddler should honestly be an Olympic sport, but my little wolfe was an absolute champion. Thank you guys for being on this messy, beautiful, exhausting journey with me. Don't lose faith in us, because we aren't losing faith in ourselves! 🇬🇧 Make sure you're subscribed because our UK vlog is dropping NEXT WEEK!
