Door Left Open

DOOR LEFT OPEN — ROSANNA MACKAIL An invitation offered freely, with the courage to accept whatever answer comes. In ‘Door Left Open’, a low lamp illuminates a room where someone has chosen to leave a way back. The person being addressed must decide whether to cross the threshold. The song gives that welcome a boundary: ‘If you cross it, cross it truly.’ Its narrator is willing to make room for another person, while asking for honesty in return. The accompanying image shows Rosanna turning back from the doorway, leaving the decision with the person beyond it.
