One year ago it was discovered that I had Ventricular Tachycardia - a dangerous heart arrhythmia that can potentially lead to Cardiac Arrest. I first got a loop recorder to monitor my symptoms and see if the two times I had fainted could be due to the heart issues they found. Now in march I had an episode that was very serious, and since the risk of dying of the arrhythmia increases with 4 times when pregnant the doctors wanted me to put in an ICD immediately! I had my hesitations, and its been a journey to find peace with this, but eventually after much prayer I landed on that putting in an ICD was the right decission in my case. ❤️ If you want to see the journey from when I get to know about my heart condition and leading up to this surgery you can find the vlogs in this play list:    • My ❤️ journey   ❤️ ----- What is an ICD? An ICD, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator, is a device placed under the skin below the collar bone, with leads (wires) going into the heart (the one I put in have two leads) that monitor the heart rhythm to detect dangerous arrhythmias such as Ventricular Tachycardia or Ventricular Fibrillation. If it does detect that it sends electrical impulses to first try to "pace the heart back to normal", if that does not succeed it delivers a shock to prevent sudden cardiac arrest. (There are also other forms of ICD's, S-ICD and EV-ICD, that does not have leads or pacing function and are put on the side, under the arm, instead).
