It's about a bride who mysteriously falls from a horse. Her husband is later named a suspect in her demise. This was one of many stories I wrote about years ago. Shannon Mohr had everything going for her before she met Dave Davis, an older man, who she thought was the man of her dreams. They looked good together, and Dave Davis made Shannon Mohr feel like she was THE ONE. Her parents, Lucia and Robert Mohr liked him, too. It was a marriage made in heaven---or so she thought. Ten months or so after they married, Shannon Mohr was..."no more." The story Dave Davis sold was---they had been out horseback riding when Shannon toppled off the horse and hit her head. The family thought a lot of Dave, so when he said Shannon had toppled, they believed him. Bob and Lucia Mohr had no idea what Dave Davis was really like. But after Shannon was gone, her mom knew something was wrong. According to Lucia, she became very uncomfortable around Dave and no longer wanted him around pretending to be like family. They knew what he had done, and it was no accident. Shannon Mohr's parents wanted justice for their daughter. But they couldn't prove anything until a tenacious reporter started digging around in Dave Davis' background. And Lucia remembered Shannon Mohr stating Dave took out an insurance policy on her. The background check revealed Dave was a LIAR. He had lied about being in the service. He wasn't a MILLIONAIRE, and he had a troubled past. He was ALSO involved in other shady insurance situations. Detectives finally agreed to have Shannon re-examined. They learned Dave Davis was educated in pharmacology, and it was suspected he administered a substance to Shannon. This time, they had proof. On Oct 13, 1981, an arrest warrant was issued for Dave Davis. But by then they had to find him. Detectives believed Dave administered a substance that ended her life. Then, he had to make it look like it she toppled. Investigators say Dave Davis pushed Shannon off the horse or tricked her into believing they were going to have a special moment together. The evidence suggested Dave married her just to cash in on a policy of over $300,000. After Dave Davis disappeared, his case was featured a few times on Unsolved Mysteries. Finally, a viewer called in and stated Dave was living in American Samoa. FBI agents took him in nine days later. He was living with his Samoan wife. After returning to the United States, Dave Davis was given a life sentence without the possibility of parole. He took his final breath in prison in 2014. He was 70 years old.
