Often described as the “Bronx of Bucharest,” Ferentari has built a reputation over the years for poverty, crime, abandoned communist apartment blocks, and a gritty underworld atmosphere. Originally developed as a working-class district on the outskirts of the city, Ferentari became heavily affected by economic decline after the fall of communism, leading to social struggles and emergence of Romani migrants. In this video, I’ll be exploring the streets of Ferentari firsthand and seeing what life is really like inside Romania's worst district.
