Hiking in the Appalachian Mountains | Mt. Tammany, NJ

Join me on an unforgettable hike up Mount Tammany in New Jersey, one of the most iconic hikes in the Delaware Water Gap! Located about 1.5 hours from New York City, Mount Tammany is a fantastic escape for anyone looking for rocky scrambles, breathtaking views, and a little adventure in nature not far from the city. I hiked Mount Tammany on October 24, 2026, with a temperature of 59°F (15°C) perfect hiking weather! I went up the challenging Red Dot Trail for 1.2 miles and enjoyed some incredible views along the way. And honestly? My favorite views were from the first overlook, not the summit! 👀 I made my way back down via the Blue Dot Trail for 1.8 miles. This trail eventually connects to the Appalachian Trail, and to me, that was the most beautiful section of the day. And of course, no summit is complete without a sandwich: a baguette with Brie, prosciutto, fig preserves, and arugula. The perfect combination of sweet, salty, creamy, and peppery. Honestly, I don't know if I love hiking for the views or just for the sandwiches! Come along these rocky trails.
