NEWS 6th November 2023 by Cilla Kinross The nestlings are now five weeks old . Down will be almost gone in a few days' time. If you only see one or none, don't panic, check ledge cam as they are probably simply out of sigh. There have been lots of 'wingersizing" which will stand them in good stead should one of them have an early fledge (a 'fludge') as nearly happened to Barru yesterday who was having tussle over food with his sister, Marri, yesterday and slipped onto the outside ledge, before scrambling to safety. A bit too close for comfort, but at that age they can usually glide comfortably to the ground without harm. NESTLING NAMES are Marri (=red kangaroo) and Barru (bilby) 1st hatch 2/10 2nd hatch 3/10 The third egg is not viable ie it will not hatch and will be removed when the nestlings fledge, if not broken.
