SEIDRA — Sjá fyrst (Official Music Video)

Sjá fyrst. Grát fyrst. Sýn ok sár. See first. Weep first. Vision and wound. An outcast girl and a crown of green branches, broken in the snow. A night out in the field among the old women who sing the spirits down. A vision in black water — mother beneath mother beneath mother, and a woman unborn wearing her crown. She wove it again. She wove it tighter. She wove it tighter still. This is how a seiðkona is made. Grát fyrst. Sjá fyrst. Grát fyrst. Fifteen winters. Wove I the crown. Green the branch and gripped too tight. Out to the field where nothing feeds. Down with the dark over both my eyes. Sjá fyrst! (Grát fyrst!) Sjá fyrst! (Grát fyrst!) Sýn ok sár. The dark did not come. The dark came apart. Threads without number. Throats without number. All of them speaking. All at once. Sight like a sickness. Seen and not stopped. Sjá fyrst! (Grát fyrst!) Sjá fyrst! (Grát fyrst!) Sýn ok sár! Allt á sama tíma — all of it, all at one time! My hands would not lift it... Mother beneath mother beneath mother... And a woman unborn wearing my crown... And I could not look away... Sjá fyrst! Grát fyrst! Sjá fyrst! Grát fyrst! Sýn ok sár — hooo! I screamed till the dogs came out of the valley. And I wove it again. And I wove it tighter. And I wove it tighter still. Sjá fyrst. — TRANSLATION — Sjá fyrst — See first Grát fyrst — Weep first Sýn ok sár — Vision and wound Allt á sama tíma — All at the same time — ABOUT — SEIDRA is a digital music artist — the last seiðkona.
