The Benjolin is a chaotic synthesizer circuit invented by Rob Hordijk (1958 - 2022). It contains two Oscillators, a Pulse Width Modulation circuit, a Resonant Low Pass Filter and a generative pseudo-random stepped control voltage generator called the Rungler.
My Macumbista Benjolin instruments add a looping switch for the Rungler patterns, an external Rungler clock input switch, and a Ring Modulator for processing external audio signals through the Benjolin. Combinations of Benjolin circuits allows for even more interesting cross-modulation possibilities. I currently offer a single Macumbista Benjolin, a double Butterfly Benjolin, and a quad Behemoth Benjolin that also includes sections to create interesting divisions of a master clock for each of its four individual Runglers.
The original design of the Benjolin instrument was licensed to me by Rob Hordijk in 2012, and I continue to produce them with kind permission from Biyi Amez (Biyiblip), the inheritor of Hordijk's estate.
You can contact me at MACUMBISTA at the domain GMAIL dot COM for information about my hand-crafted electronic sound instruments.
