“Ọkàn mi ń yọ̀ nínú Olúwa.” “My heart rejoices in the Lord.” Okan Mi Nyo Ninu Oluwa is a beautiful CAC Yoruba hymn expressing the deep joy, peace and assurance that come from knowing and walking with the Lord. The hymn begins with a simple but powerful declaration: “Ọkàn mi ń yọ̀ nínú Olúwa, Torí Ó jẹ́ ìyè fún mi.” “My heart rejoices in the Lord, For He is life to me.” It is the testimony of a heart that has discovered its true source of joy—not in circumstances or possessions, but in the Lord Himself. The chorus captures this beautifully: “Èmi ń yọ̀ nínú Rẹ̀, Èmi ń yọ̀ nínú Rẹ̀, Gbogbo ìgbà ló fi ayọ̀ kún ọkàn mi…” “I rejoice in You, I rejoice in You, He fills my heart with joy at all times…” The hymn also presents the tender image of Christ as the Good Shepherd.
