At 4:52 in the afternoon, the gate agent at B16 stops talking in the middle of a word. You're a passenger waiting at your gate when a steel security grille slams down and seals Concourse B off from the rest of the airport. One last text from your father gets through: stay put, find water, watch your doors.
We follow you day by day through 30 days trapped inside an airport during a zombie outbreak: a door you swear you'll never reopen, 236 bottles counted on the back of a boarding pass, a glass concourse that turns into a greenhouse at ninety-seven degrees, a light in the control tower that blinks three times at 2:10 in the morning, and a parked jet at Gate B14 with water in its belly.
Real facts in this story: a narrowbody airliner carries a drinking-water tank under the cabin floor, roughly 50 gallons depending on the model, drained from a service panel underneath; airport restrooms use pressure-driven flush valves with no tank, so without water pressure the toilets cannot flush; a commercial water heater can hold about 50 gallons and is drained from a valve near the bottom; in high heat the body loses water just to stay cool, so you need to drink more even when sitting still; a cut in a hot, dirty place without running water carries a higher risk of infection and should be cleaned with clean water.
This is a fictional animated story. The facts are general knowledge, not advice.
