In 1935, an amateur camera captured Batavia, the capital of the Dutch East Indies, from a remarkably personal perspective. Rather than focusing on major events, the camera simply observes the city as it was: its streets, buildings, canals, neighborhoods, public spaces, transportation, harbor, and the people who filled them. From the Stadhuis and the streets of Chinatown to Molenvliet, Weltevreden, Batavia South Station, the National Museum, city parks, swimming pools, and the harbor of Sunda Kelapa, these fragments come together to form a glimpse of everyday life in Batavia during the 1930s. Nearly a century later, these amateur images allow us to step back into the city and experience its streets through the eyes of someone who was there. This footage has been carefully restored and enhanced for historical preservation and educational purposes, including stabilization, image enhancement, and color restoration where appropriate. 🎞️ Historical footage 📍 Batavia, Dutch East Indies — 1935 🎥 Amateur film 🔧 Restored & enhanced for archival viewing If you enjoy historical footage, forgotten places, and everyday life from the past, consider subscribing for more restored archival films from Indonesia and the former Dutch East Indies. #Batavia1935 #DutchEastIndies #HistoricalFootage #AmateurFilm #OldBatavia
